About the PSAT/NMSQT
The
Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT)
– also the
National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT)
– is a standardized exam that typically precedes the beginning of the college admissions process. It is most often taken by students in 11th (and sometimes 10th) grade in October. Learn more about the exam on the

PSAT/NMSQT Exam Format & Scoring
The PSAT/NMSQT exam is structured similarly to the
SAT Exam
in that is divided into Reading, Writing/Language, and Mathematics sections. Scores are usually available by December following the October exam date.
